Marc Jacobs has always been a master of surprise and man of many styles. He began his career in 1984 and made his mark with the grunge moment of the nineties. Highly praised for his current Runway and The Marc Jacobs collections designed in spirited silhouettes and contagious playfulness.
Two weeks ago, I participated in a webinar hosted by Architectural Digest to showcase the new publication The Most Beautiful Rooms in the World. The event featured the magazine editors from around the globe to highlight their favorite images. Representing America, Amy Astley selected a room from Marc Jacobs Manhattan townhouse featured in the 2017 July issue.
Smitten by the photo, I wanted to learn more about the home designed primarily for Marc and his wing-dog Neville. In contrast, to his elaborate clothing designs, the residence was inspired by the sleekness of the sixties and the congestion of the seventies. Totally out of his norm from the usual theatrical friskiness found in his fashion assortments.
The floorplan boasts of Marc’s braggables. An avid antique and contemporary art collector the monotone color scheme comes to life from all human creativity. A fan of the female form, on display, is exquisite selections from John Currin and Richard Prince. In addition, he shares an Elizabeth Peyton rendition of his friend Sophia Coppola. The art deco furnishing and treasured artifacts speak to my philosophy to surround yourself with beauty from the heart.
Although the dwelling has been sold, the HomeGoods shop and Style Server offers this type of chic and worldly sophistication. Inspiring ideas from a man of many styles and a master of surprise.
